The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is expected to go before the county budget board on Monday after asking for an additional cash infusion to make payroll.

Sheriff Chris Amason said tax revenue that funds his office is down, and is asking for an additional $575,000.

In February, the budget board gave the Sheriff's Office $1.3M to cover expenses, and in April, Cleveland County commissioners held a meeting to discuss the sheriff's office's budget issues.

The budget board asked Amason to justify his request for more money, and also asked the sheriff to provide a detailed spending plan to the board at Monday's meeting.

The state auditor is looking into these alleged funding discrepancies.
