Students were evacuated from Westmoore High School due to a bomb threat, according to the Oklahoma City Police Department.
Oklahoma City Police and K9 units swept the school, but did not find anything suspicious.
A student was taken into custody during the search, but police say it was for assaulting another student, and was unrelated to the threat.
According to Westmoore administration, there was a threat against the school Wednesday morning. Police say the threat was made over the phone. The campus has been closed, and all the students have been evacuated and are being sent home for the day.
Police have not identified the person who made the threat.
Westmoore High School sent the following statement:
Dear Westmoore Families,
This morning WHS administration received a threat against the school. Out of a high abundance of caution, we activated safety protocols and evacuated all students. All students are safe and the campus is closed at this time.
Our Oklahoma City Police SROs immediately began investigating and the MPS K9 units are sweeping the campus. We will resume normal operations once we have a confirmed all-clear with the OKC PD.
The safety and security of MPS students, employees, and our campus sites are of the highest importance, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation. We will provide an update in 30 minutes.
Thank you,
Administration
