Seminole County Sheriff, Undersheriff Resign; Meeting Scheduled To Appoint Temporary Sheriff

The Seminole County sheriff and undersheriff are resigning, according to County Commissioner Timothy Porter.

Sheriff Shannon Smith’s resignation will go in effect at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 31.

Undersheriff Matt Healy’s resignation went into effect at 8 a.m. Monday.

It is unknown what prompted their resignations.

There will be a special meeting held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Seminole County Courthouse to appoint a temporary staff.
