A man was arrested after he allegedly fired gunshots at officers when responding to a disturbance call in Waurika.

At around 12:40 p.m. Thursday, police attempted to make contact with David Hatmaker, 37, before he barricaded himself inside of a home, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Police were able to make contact and secure a female victim before they contacted other agencies to respond.

As law enforcement attempted to make contact with Hatmaker, he fired several gunshots, and a standoff then ensued for several hours, the OSBI said.

Deputies said officers with the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police Department deployed their tactical team to enter the home where Hatmaker was taken into custody.

Hatmaker was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on the complaints of kidnapping and threats to do bodily harm, with more charges possible in connection to the shooting, deputies said.
