Man Accused Of Making Threats Towards His Children, Prompting Soft Lockdowns At Shawnee PS

Tecumseh Police arrested a man who allegedly made threats to hurt his children that prompted a soft lockdown at Shawnee Public Schools sites on Tuesday.

Police said Daniel Nice, 33, was fired from a business before he made the threats Tuesday morning.

The soft lockdowns took place because his children were enrolled at the school district.

In an email the district sent to parents, they said all students and staff are safe.

Nice was eventually located and taken into custody, and the lockdowns have since been lifted.

A soft lockdown means that students are kept inside the locked building, and classes are conducted as normal.
