Mustang, Blanchard Animal Shelters Close After Infectious Outbreak

The Mustang and Blanchard animals shelter are shutting their doors due to an outbreak of canine flu and strep zoo.

The viruses are the same ones that swept through Oklahoma City Animal Welfare last week, killing five dogs.

Oklahoma City, Midwest City and Yukon are already temporarily closed because of the outbreak.

Mustang officials said the shelter will be temporarily closed with limited services through at least next Friday.

Also, the Oklahoma Humane Society has canceled a vaccination clinic originally scheduled for Friday.

The humane society said the move is being made out of an abundance of caution.
