Mid America Industrial Park Teams With In Mayes Co. Communities To Drive Future Growth

The Mid America Industrial Park in Pryor is partnering with communities in Mayes County to help drive future growth.

Leaders created a guide to help each city grow and also draw more people and businesses to the Industrial Park.

The target areas include Adair, Choteau, Pryor Creek, Langely, Locust Grove and Salina.

The study found Mayes County struggles with growing at a pace that accommodates both progressive and rural areas.

Mid America Industrial Park partnered with county leaders, ODOT, and residents to hold a series of public meetings to come up with this guide.

Pryor Creek Mayor Larry Lees says housing is a major factor in the area they want to develop.

“Do you just build streets and just lay out a plan for housing? Well no, we develop streets, we lay out a plat for housing within that development, we also put trails, we also put parks and we also design quality of life things,” Larry Lees, Mayor of Pryor Creek, said.

In addition, leaders in Pryor Creek want to develop the Main Street Corridor and upgrade buildings, sidewalks, and intersections.

The partnership with Mid America Industrial Park is something Lees says the community is grateful for.

“For instance, if they bring new jobs to the park, we need to have new rooftops going up in our city to be able to support that it's incredibly important to Mid-America Industrial Park,” Larry Lees, Mayor of Pryor Creek, said.

Mayor Lees says funding continues to be a challenge when it comes to growing because he says money generated only comes from sales tax.

He shares partnerships like this help bring new additions to the community and hopes to work with agencies like the Cherokee Nation, Pryor Public Schools, and Mayes County.
