The No. 18 Oklahoma women's tennis team fell to No. 13 Texas A&M 4-0 in the second round of the NCAA tournament at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.
The Sooners conclude the season at 19-7 overall, good for a third-place Big 12 finish and fifth NCAA tournament appearance under head coach Audra Cohen.
Texas A&M came out strong in doubles to claim the opening point. Nicole Khirin and Jeanette Mireles defeated Alina Shcherbinina and Chloé Noël 6-2 on court three. No. 26 Dana Guzman and Roisin Gilheany fell 7-5 to No. 7 Mary Stoiana and Mia Kupres at the top court, securing the opening point for the Aggies.
When play came to a halt, No. 36 Julia Garcia Ruiz and Zdena Safarova were looking to complete a comeback against Carson Branstine and Lucciana Perez, tied 6-6 heading into tiebreakers on court two.
Singles opened with a 6-2, 6-1 Aggie win at the top court from No. 88 Branstine over No. 37 Garcia Ruiz. TAMU's No. 45 Kupres delivered a straight set win on court four, 6-1, 6-2 against No. 66 Florencia Urrutia.
To clinch the match, Mireles claimed court six over Noël 6-4, 6-3.
On the remaining courts, No. 40 Guzman trailed No. 1 Stoiana 6-3, 5-4 on the second court, No. 121 Alina Shcherbinina led No. 26 Khirin 6-2, 3-6, 2-0 at the No. 3 spot and Emma Staker trailed in the third set against Perez 6-3, 4-6, 0-1 an on court five.
