Logan County fire crews spent the weekend putting out the massive fire that started on Friday. Now, crews have to re-fuel for another risky day on Tuesday.

When someone finishes the trip, they have to refuel. People like Zeb Robbins must recharge themselves.

“It’s a humbling experience,” said Zeb Robbins, with the Guthrie Fire Department.

Robbins just joined this team.

“First six months and here I go,” Robbins said.

A person wouldn’t know Robbins is a rookie based on his knowledge or the number of times he’s helped someone.

“Six months of memorization and you’ll figure out pretty much exactly where everything is,” Robbins said. “I’ve been to over 400 calls fire and medical.,

Little can prepare someone for Friday’s wildfires.

Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow has seen wildfires too many times during his 25 years.

“It completely more or less incinerated everything in its path,” Harlow said.

On Friday, Logan County lost 30 homes. In Oklahoma, more than 700 acres burned. They are preparing for a similar situation on Tuesday.

“We are gonna be ready,” Harlow said.

For some of these firefighters, these fires hit a lot closer to home.

“This is home for me,” Robbins said. “I graduated here from Guthrie High School.”

A person can imagine how Robbins felt.

“It’s a scary thing,” Robbins said. “My family, they had to evacuate the area too.”

“We find our ways to cope with it,” Harlow said.

Robbins' passion fuels his drive to come back every day.

“I’m just lucky to be here,” Robbins said. “I’m just happy to be a hand to help.”

They remember every call, but their only mission is the next one.

“Help people out,” Robbins said. “Give everybody a chance.”
