Symptoms like runny nose, headaches, cough and sore throat are all too familiar right now for allergy-sensitive people.

That's because cedar and elm tree pollen are in an extremely high range now and the Oklahoma Allergy and Asthma Clinic saying this will cause pollen allergy symptoms to worsen.

The clinic has some advice for those struggling with their allergies.

“There are some medicines by prescription that you can’t get over the counter. Some oral medicines and nasal medicines there are also allergy shots and allergy injections that can build your bodies natural immunity to the allergens,” said Dr. Bret Haymore with the clinic.

The clinic said staying indoors may be the best option, but when that isn't possible they recommend washing your hands often and switching you air and furnace filters regularly. You can also wear a mask if you have to do outdoor chores.
