The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating after a man died in custody with Enid Police.

The Enid Police Department said they were called to a domestic disturbance at around 6:12 a.m. Thursday at an apartment complex near South 30th Street and East Mkt Avenue.

When police arrived on scene, officers encountered a naked 56-year-old man, who was not a resident at the apartments, behaving erratically and refusing a female resident's demands to leave.

Police determined that the man was in immediate danger to himself and others as well as needing mental health treatment.

Police said they attempted to take the man in protective custody, but the man violently resisted.

During the struggle, the man lost consciousness, and officers on scene immediately called for an ambulance and began CPR, according to police.

Police said they also administered NARCAN in an effort to counteract a potential drug overdose that may have occurred.

The man was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Police have not yet identified the man.

The OSB was requested to investigate the incident due to the man dying while in police custody.
