Stillwater Police made an arrest after responding to the scene of an alleged stabbing that happened around 5:30 p.m. on Monday near South Duncan Street and West 4th Avenue.

Officers said they arrived on scene and administered first aid to a victim of the stabbing, who was later transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police then said Tyler Tannenbaum, 25, from North Carolina, fled the area on foot prior to officer’s arrival, although he was later located and confronted by police.

Officers said they gave Tannenbaum verbal commands to exit a residence in the area, and once outside he failed to comply with officer commands.

Following the use of a Taser officers said was used to subdue him, Tannenbaum was taken into custody without further incident.

After the arrest Stillwater Police located a deceased dog with several stab wounds inside the residence where Tyler was at.

Authorities said Tannenbaum was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, animal cruelty and domestic assault and battery by strangulation.
