Oklahoma Man Competes On CBS Television Show ‘Tough As Nails’

Season 4 of the CBS show “Tough as Nails” begins Wednesday, Jan. 4 and will feature contestant Mister Frost from Spencer, Okla.

Every season, thousands of people submit to be on the show.

“So, we send in an eight-minute burpee challenge, which is called the brutal truth, and you send that in every week,” Frost said.

For five weeks, workout videos have to be sent in.

“You don’t even know if you’re going to be on the show. So, you’re just working out for nothing really,” Frost said.

Eventually about 100 emails are sent to potential contestants inviting them to LA for the next round, and Frost couldn't believe that he was one of the those chosen.

“I was so surprised. I told my wife I can’t believe this. Is this serious?” Frost said.

After two weeks of more challenges, Mister was eventually selected as one of the final 12, made it onto the show, and cut off all communication from the outside world

“Took my cell phone, they took my tablet, if you had a tablet, laptops computers, everything,” Frost said.

On the show, competitors are evaluated on their strength, endurance, life skills and mental toughness

“They take you in this van, and you don’t know what you’re getting into, you don’t have any itinerary on what’s going on, you don’t know where you’re going, you don’t know what the challenge is,” Frost said.

For the competitors, it was 10 weeks of individual and team challenges.

“You’ll see the team as we struggle, you’ll see our victories and you’ll see that it really takes a lot,” Frost said.

Frost said the challenges were extremely difficult but said he would definitely do it again.
