They call themselves the Arctic Angles, and this is the weather that puts them into action.

“I didn’t know what today was going to bring. I didn’t know if I was going to be able to get out of my driveway and I couldn’t go home, lay in bed and think who did I miss,” said Arctic Angle Jode Berge with On Bended Knee.

For five years the ladies have been providing hotel rooms and meals for the homeless in a way that restores their dignity. And though the shelters are at capacity, the ladies know the shelters are not for everyone.

“If you’re dealing with PTSD or trauma, or if you’ve been abused in any type of way, it’s a place that is going to bring you into a very bad place,” said Arctic Angle Delisa Jones with Second Chances Thrift Store.

When the ladies aren’t booking hotel rooms and feeding, they are out in the homeless camps, delivering tents, and propane, and anything else their homeless friends may need.

“This is his home, this is where he lives and this is where he has lived for the past 18 months,” said Jones.

However, a passion this strong comes with a price.

“We had a man that died in a wheelchair, our friend, a few weeks ago and listen that was hard," said Berge and Jones. "That broke us."

The ladies work with other organizations and groups getting supplies to those that won’t leave the camps. They currently have over 80 hotel rooms filled in four different hotels around the city. To support their efforts visit @Jodi Berge or @Second Chances Thrift Store both on Facebook.
