The City of Tulsa is asking people to drop off non-perishable food items around town to help make sure families in need have a holiday to remember.

Stuffing, green beans, and mashed potatoes and just a few of the fixings that make up the perfect holiday meal. Beginning Monday boxes like these can be found around town, so people can drop off non-perishable food items for families in need, at any Tulsa fire station, police department, or the Tulsa City-County Regional Library.

Tulsa Fire Department lieutenant Tim Ingram says this is an opportunity for the fire department to give back to the community.

All the food collected will be given to The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, which will make sure it gets delivered to 100 partner programs.

"Basically, anybody that’s able to make food donations of non-perishable items. Those include dry goods, canned goods, pastas, cereals, baby food, baby formula The sort of things that around the holiday people are going to needing especially as tough as the economy is right now," Ingram says.

The stock the station food drive runs through Dec. 9
