A Broken Arrow pizza shop held a fundraiser Wednesday to support a prison dog training program.

MOD Pizza is donating the proceeds to the CARE Rescue's STAR Prison Dog training program.

The STAR program operates out of the Dick Conner Correctional Center, where prisoners train shelter dogs and get them adopted.

"The first 9 weeks is just basic AKC obedience, you know, sit, sit stay, down. Tenth week, we actually have someone come in, do an evaluation test type. Usually from Tulsa dog training club. The eleventh week is when we have our graduation," said Andy Lueck, STAR Program Lead Trainer.

Since the program started in 2017, more than 100 rescue dogs have been trained and adopted.
