Norman is implementing mandatory water restrictions due to the community reaching critical levels of water supply, the city said.
The city said residents and business owners should limit outdoor irrigation to once a day per week; assigned watering days are the same as trash pickup days.
Pools can use water to maintain operation, but use of potable water for ponds and lakes is prohibited, according to the city.
The city said the use of potable water at construction sites is prohibited.
Washing vehicles is prohibited unless it’s at a commercial car wash, according to the city.
Norman splash pad operations will be reduced, and the hours will change to being open daily from 1 to 6 p.m.
According to the City of Norman, the majority of the city’s potable water comes from Lake Thunderbird.
The city said the lake experienced a pump outage on July 7, and replacement is expected to be done by next Monday.
Water restrictions are expected to be lifted following the replacement, according to the city.
