We’re almost two months away from "Highway to Henryetta," the big music festival Troy Aikman is putting on to raise money for Henryetta Public Schools. One of Oklahoma's own performed at a local nursing home to bring part of the concert to music fans who might not be able to attend the festival.

Mannford 17-Year-Old Country Singer Mikayla Lane is getting ready for her first music festival performance on June 11 at Highway to Henryetta, but she realized some special fans wouldn't be able to be there in person.

"I thought it would be cool to give y'all a little sneak peak of what it's gonna be like,” Mikayla told residents of Fountain View Manor.

There was foot tapping, clapping, cheers, tears and even a few singing along for Fountain View Manor's first live performance since the beginning of the pandemic.

“We had some crying, saying it was the best thing they'd ever heard and it was emotional for staff,” said Fountain View Manor Administrator and Henryetta Mayor, Jennifer Munholland.

"It was great seeing how music can touch someone like that,” said Mikayla Lane.

"I love all of her songs,” said Fountain View Manor Resident Anna Harris, "Brought a little outlaw out in me."

Harris said she probably won't be able to make it to the concert, but now she's got something even better -- a private performance and a few photos to remember Mikayla by. “She just brightened up my day with her singing,” said Harris. “Her songs are so beautiful.”

Residents say this day will be hard to forget. "We'll be able to say we knew her when,” said Resident Teresa Gibson. “It’s once in a lifetime,” said Bob Kramer.

Mikayla's next concert is in Henryetta on June 11 at Nichols Park with fellow Oklahoman, Blake Shelton, headlining the show.

"I am really glad it’s going to be in Oklahoma in my home state with artists that I look up to,” said Lane. “I am so excited for this opportunity.”

VIP tickets are sold out, but general admission tickets are still available.
