The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a woman died at the scene of an accident involving a semi truck and a swerving vehicle.

The collision happened around 6 a.m. Saturday on the westbound lanes of Interstate 44 between Verdigris and Claremore.

Troopers said a driver in an SUV was swerving on the roadway when it collided with a semi truck. The swerving vehicle then spun around and crashed.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Taylor Mantooth of Mannford, was ejected from the vehicle.

OHP said the driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but Mantooth died a few hours later. The passenger in the SUV is expected to be OK.

The two people in the semi truck were not injured.

Troopers said the driver's vehicle had an "odor of alcohol beverages."

Traffic on I-44's westbound lanes was closed for an hour but has since been reopened.
