A man accused of murder faces additional murder charges while behand bars at the Canadian County Detention Center.

Jason Lamar Richey Jr., 22, was charged with soliciting for murder in the first-degree on August 20.

Law enforcement learned about the solicitation in early May.

Richey is accused of urging Canadian County Detention Center inmates Samuel Parsons and Bryan Snodgrass to murder Edwin Edwards.

According to court records, Richey offered a cash reward for the perpetration of the murder.

It’s unclear if a murder attempt was ever made.

According to jail records, neither Parsons or Edwards remain in the county jail.

No further information was released by the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.

Richey is no stranger to the criminal justice system.

El Reno police arrested Richey in March following a shooting in the 400 block of South Hadden Avenue that killed 45-year-old Angela Michelle Thompson and injured two others.

In early March, El Reno police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of West London Street and South Hadden Ave.

It was on Hadden Ave. where Angela Thompson, 45, was found dead. Two others were injured.

Days after the shooting, officers arrested Richey where he’s been locked up after a Canadian County judge denied his bond.
