OSBI Releases New Information In Officer-Involved Shooting In Stephens County

OSBI said an altercation between Matthew Davis, 38, and officer ended when the officer fired his weapon.

New details of an officer-involved shooting Wednesday in Stephens County have been released as the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation continues its probe.  

Authorities initially said the suspect was involved in a shootout with Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police after failing to pull over for a traffic stop in at 4610 US-81 in Marlow. However, OSBI investigators determined Tuesday that no shots were ever fired by the driver of the suspect vehicle.

According to OSBI, the suspect identified as 38-year-old Matthew Davis, got into an altercation with an officer who was trying to arrest him during the traffic stop.

Investigators said the altercation ended when the officer fired his weapon.

Davis left the scene in the vehicle. Authorities said two other subjects inside of the car were interviewed and later released.

With the assistance of severa; agencies a multi-county search for Davis followed.

Davis was eventually located hours later in Loco, Oklahoma.

OSBI said Davis is in the Stephen’s County Jail on charges unrelated to the shooting.
