Driver In Custody After Car Engine Blows During High-Speed Chase

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office said a driver was detained after a car engine blew during a high-speed chase.

The chase ended Wednesday morning near Interstate 240 and South Pennsylvania Avenue.

Authorities said they tried to stop a vehicle due to a seatbelt violation, but the driver took off. Speeds reached over 100 miles per hour during the chase.

After the car engine blew out, sheriffs were able to catch up to the driver. The driver was detained after authorities said she had warrants.

Two other people in the vehicle with the driver, a man and a 13-year-old son of the driver, were released.

No injuries were reported.
