Neighbors said they're shaken up after police said a woman was shot and killed Wednesday night in their neighborhood.
Oklahoma City police said 22-year-old Cierra Abbott was found shot dead in the parking lot at North Rotary Park.
“When officers arrived, they located one individual deceased inside of the vehicle. It's unclear at this time what led up to the shooting,” Oklahoma City police Sgt. Dillon Quirk said.
Paul Yeary said he lives just around the corner from where this took place.
“I got up, my wife got up and that's when the police cars and helicopter and everybody was coming around. This is normally the most people neighborhoods you can find,” Yeary said.
Yeary said there's been several small incidents at the park, but never murder.
“It really makes me nervous. It makes my wife nervous. It makes all the neighbors nervous now, because I've lived here 30 years. It just saddens me to hear that a 22-year-old got shot and killed over in our parking lot,” Yeary said.
Over the years, Yeary said there has been several upgrades made to the Rotary Park. He said now he'll think twice before visiting.
“We don't need shootings going on in the park. We just do not need it. Now, it makes me want to make sure that I keep my weapon loaded since this kind of stuff is starting,” Yeary said.
No arrests have been made.
