A Black-owned media company is asking the Centennial Commission to remove Gov. Kevin Stitt immediately from the organization considering his decision to sign House Bill 1775 into law.

The Black Wall Street Times is making the request after Stitt signed the bill, which limits race and gender curriculum and bans the requirement for diversity training for students at state universities, into law on Friday.

The commission asked Stitt to veto the bill and said House Bill 1775 opposes their work and limits what students are taught about the racial impact of America's history.

They said it serves no purpose than to fuel the racism and denial that afflicts our communities.

The commission said it will talk about the new law during a special meeting on Monday.
