Guthrie Public Schools said it’s found contaminated milk from Hiland Dairy at Cotteral, Charter Oak, and Guthrie Upper Elementary schools after being told it didn’t receive bad milk from the vendor.

GPS said the staff was able to find the recalled milk before it went out to students.

“I’m very disappointed in our vendor,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson. “ Their careless misrepresentation of the facts to our staff yesterday could have placed students at risk. Fortunately, our staff went the extra mile to assure the safety of our students.”

The contaminated Half Pint 1% Low Fat Chocolate Milk was sent out to several metro districts and one local hospital.

Hiland Dairy said parents should check for the January 27th sell-by date and the plant code 4025.

News 9 has reached out to the district to find out what the alleged misinformation was, but so far we have not heard back.
