An officer for The Village Police Department has been charged with manslaughter after a deadly shooting in July.

Police say 49-year-old Christopher Poor charged at Officer Chance Avery with a baseball bat during a peacekeeping call on July 25. Investigators say Avery then shot Poor three times. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Avery is not in police custody yet.
