A woman recorded her confrontation with a group of apparent college students in Stillwater because they were not wearing a mask while eating and drinking.

The confrontation happened Sunday evening at the Braum’s location on Perkins Road in Stillwater.

Stillwater's mask ordinance allows residents to take their mask off while eating and drinking.

"Are you all OSU students," the woman in the video is heard asking.

Julie Ward was eating ice cream with friends nearby when the incident occurred. Ward said the woman recording kept yelling until the group was gone.

"I was in shock, my friends that I were with were in shock," Ward said. "It was kind of sad because, as she left, she shouted to my friends, 'I didn't say anything to you all because I assumed you were a family unit,' which showed me that it was kind of an attack on college students, which I felt sorry for.”

"We had no COVID(-19) until OSU started back up again," the woman is heard telling the group in the video.

"Actually, all of us are COVID(-19)-free. We test weekly, thank you though," one of the group members said in response to the woman.

The Stillwater Police Department released the following statement regarding the confrontation to News 9.

"The video posted on social media of (the woman) contacting those students is concerning,” the statement began. “First, it is concerning that a citizen confronts a group with the intent to enforce Stillwater’s mask ordinance. Taking such action does have risks dependent on the group’s reaction. Our concern is that a confrontation like this one could turn violent. We strongly advise against confrontations of this type. The young ladies in this video handled the confrontation well. Secondly, we know wearing a mask is not always convenient but masks do inhibit the spread of COVID(-)19. We ask that all citizens wear a mask or socially distance when gathering. We must all work together to quall the spread of COVID."
