One more virus-related death and 168 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state since Sunday, according to daily numbers released by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

A total of 25,433 Oklahomans have tested positive for COVID-19 and the total number of deaths is 452, the state health department said on Monday.

While the daily numbers are lower, state health officials said this is due to technical data entry issues and do not reflect real-time data for Sunday and Monday.

Oklahomans who receive a positive test result through a state lab will continue to be promptly notified and connected to contract tracing efforts, the state health department said.

One death was reported but did not happen in the last 24 hours.

A woman aged 65 or older died in Tulsa County.

A total of 2,403 Oklahomans have been hospitalized due to the virus with 604 patients in the hospital as of Friday evening.

So far, 19,750 Oklahomans have recovered from the virus with 284 more cases considered recovered since Sunday. Health officials said recovered means the patient is not hospitalized or deceased and it has been 14 days since the onset of symptoms or report.

As of Friday evening, 440,904 tests have returned negative since testing began in February.

The state will also use text messaging in addition to phone calls to reach out to Oklahomans in contact tracing efforts.

Oklahoma reported its first child death related to the virus on July 12. The child was a 13-year-old daughter of a soldier stationed at Fort Sill.

Shortly after the report of the girl's death, state Superintendent Joy Hofmeister recommended for all Oklahomans to wear face masks to allow the safely reopening of schools in the fall.

On June 30, Stitt wore a face mask and "strongly encouraged" Oklahomans to follow CDC guidelines pertaining to face masks.
