Dangerous heat will be the story for the next several days in Oklahoma.
On Wednesday, the heat index won’t be terrible. It will be the coolest of the next 9 days. Highs will climb into the 90s and low 100s. The heat index will range from 100 to 105 today.
Wednesday night into Thursday morning, a cold front will arrive in northeast Oklahoma. This will provide lows in the 60s vs 70s elsewhere. It will also bring the chance for thunderstorms early Thursday morning. These storm chances will be highest in the northeast.
Damaging winds and intense lightning will be possible.
Thursday the boundary will stall out in central Oklahoma. The heat index will climb from 100 to 113. In the afternoon, that boundary could be the focal point for isolated severe storms.
