LUTHER, Okla. -

A metro preacher helped to tip off investigators to a stash of child pornography.

And according to court documents the suspect played a big part in his own arrest.

Tristen Trevino started the investigation into himself, when he shared concerning information with his pastor.

“It's one of those things where it almost seems like he was feeling guilty and needed to tell someone,” said Luther Police Chief Johnny Leafty.

Court documents reveal 21-year-old Tristen Trevino, a parishioner of Luther Road Baptist Church, visited with his pastor expressing interest in a church summer camp.

Trevino said he was nervous he wouldn't be accepted "due to him receiving a message from someone that said he had proof that Trevino possessed child pornography.

“Luckily the person he told notified law enforcement,” said Leafty.

Police immediately went to question a very forthcoming Trevino.

“He has struggled with pornography in the past,” said Leafty.

He said over the past several months he had acquired the illegal images through "Discord," an app often used by gamers to communicate.

Using the app, Trevino told police he exchanged nude photos with three underage girls.

“Being underage sometimes the underage kids don't realize the severity of it,” said Leafty.

His alleged victims lived in various parts of the world.

“According to the information that we've uncovered so far one of the victims is from Malaysia,” said Leafty.

Investigators said Trevino admitted to "wiping" his phone and computer clean after someone on the same app told him they knew he was in possession of child pornography.

Police said they're grateful someone sounded the alarm.

“It's fantastic that the preacher came forward with the information. Even a report needs to be investigated because you never know what may follow up with,” said Leafty.
