Police: Man Stabbed Multiple Times At NW OKC Apartment Complex

A man is recovering from being stabbed multiple times overnight at an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City. 

Thomas Grider, 49, was working on his car around 2 a.m. Monday morning in the complex parking lot near Northwest 10th Street and Rockwell Avenue.

He was stabbed multiple times in his chest and back.

“It’s very serious stab wounds,” said MSgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department.  “He was transported to an area hospital. He is expected to survive. He was not cooperative with officers at the scene telling them who stabbed him.”

Police said Grider was stabbed by someone with a pocket knife. Grider made it to his apartment and his father dialed 911.

“My son budged, slammed the door open and says dad I’ve been stabbed and I’m bleeding,” said Thomas Grider, his father. “So, I sat him down on the floor and put pressure on him to stop the bleeding and dialed 911.”

Investigators are now looking for a tall male with a black jacket. As of now, it’s still not clear what led to the stabbing. However, it has some neighbors on edge. With some saying they’ll be on the lookout for anything suspicious.

“Because I got kids and I got a family so I’m going to watch out for it anyways,” said Kenyath Fleming, who lives at the apartment.  “If I see something that happened, I’m going to handle it myself before anything gets out of hand.”

According to police, Grider was stabbed a total of 9 times. Officers located Grider’s car with the engine on and the cell phone inside. There was blood found around the car.
