A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of the News 9 viewing area until 3 a.m. Friday.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of the News 9 viewing area until 3 a.m. Friday.

Counties included in the watch are: Alfalfa, Beaver, Blaine, Caddo, Canadian, Cleveland, Custer, Dewey, Ellis, Garfield, Grady, Harper, Kay, Kingfisher, Lincoln, Logan, McClain, Major, Noble, Oklahoma, Payne, Pottawatomie, Roger Mills, Washita, Woods and Woodward.

Severe thunderstorms moved into southwest Oklahoma Thursday night but weakened by 7:30. New storms are expected to develop in the northwest part of the state later Thursday night and move to the southeast, making it to Oklahoma City around midnight.
