The coronavirus threat has metro stores out of hand sanitizers.
We checked with Walmart and Super Target stores and both have been out of the in-demand item for days.
However, you can make your own hand sanitizer with ingredients you can still buy in stores.
Here’s a safe recipe for hand sanitizer:
2/3 cup 99% rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)
1/3 cup aloe vera gel.
8-10 drop essential oil, optimal (such as lavender, vanilla, peppermint, grapefruit)
Mix all of the ingredients.
You can add additional drops of vitamin E oil to better protect your hands from the alcohol.
Recipes vary, but the CDC say the most effective hand sanitizer has 60% alcohol.
