A U.S. Marshals task force has arrested a man wanted for leading Mayes County deputies on a chase and threatening someone with a hatchet back in October.
Leonard Ray Richardson Jr. was arrested in Tulsa near 4th St and Lakewood Ave on Wednesday. Investigators said he threatened a witness who saw him as he ran away from the end of a chase with deputies.
According to the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, officers recovered a stolen vehicle leading into the arrest. Marshals also said they found four guns.
"Those are off the street now and we consider that a win anytime we can take guns off the street," Maddox said. "We try to work off the element of surprise. We want to come in with as a large force as possible and overwhelm people so they do not have a chance to react in a way that could cause harm to us or them," said Deputy U.S. Marshal Emily Maddox.
Richardson was wanted in Mayes County after the sheriff's office said he and a woman named Jimmie Falling led them and other police departments on a high-speed chase last month. He escaped along with Falling. Falling eventually turned herself in.
