Police have identified the suspects involved in a deadly-police shooting in northwest Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, nine plain clothed narcotics officers were conducting an investigation in the area of Melrose Ln and Rockwell Ave.
Police say the officers witnessed a drug deal in progress with the suspects, now identified as 19-year-old Karen Cifuentes, 24-year-old Juan Aguilera, and 25-year-old Shanderrick Cleveland, in a dark late model sedan at a convenience store in the area.
The officers flashed their badges and attempted to arrest the suspects. Police say Cleveland exited the vehicle and was taken into custody, but Cifuentes and Aguilera jumped in the vehicle and took off.
While attempting to flee, police say Cifuentes, who was driving the car, struck one of the police officers.
"While trying to flee the parking lot, that female struck an officer with the vehicle," said Oklahoma City Police Capt. Dexter Nelson. "That officer, in the process of being struck, fired into the vehicle striking that female one time."
Police say Cifuentes continued to drive a short distance from the scene before finally coming to a stop. She was transported from the scene to a local hospital where she later died. Aguilera was then taken into custody.
The officer who was hit only suffered minor injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, treated and released. Theincidentt remains under investigation.
