Oklahoma City Police were attacked by an Edmond man with nunchakus early Saturday morning.

Shots were fired by police after being forced into a violent situation.

Police said they were called to the Broadway Village Apartments. Upon arrival, police say the suspect was holding a knife to a woman's side. He also had nunchakus around her neck.

"At one point during the encounter, he did drop the knife but shortly thereafter, he attacked both officers with the nunchucks," Oklahoma City Police Capt. Steve McCool said.

Two officers were injured, but were released from the hospital Sunday morning.

Suspect James Anthony Pruitt, 23, remains in recovery.
