Chad Robinson was sentenced by a Cleveland County court Thursday to eight years in prison for the attempted murder of his grandparents, Conrad and Mary Hornbuckle. The 22-year-old had pleaded guilty last October to stabbing his grandparents during a drug and alcohol binge.
"Two lovely people almost lost their lives," said Tim Kuykendall, Robinson's attorney. "A family has been torn apart, a defendant's live has been changed forever; and this is one more example of drugs tearing apart a family."
Robinson will also have to spend a year in a halfway home after he is released. The judge also ordered Robinson to complete as many drug programs that are made available to him during his prison stint.
