Lightning strikes Moore nursing home

Heartland Plaza retirement home, 301 N. Eastern Ave., was evacuated early Tuesday after lightning hit the building's roof, Moore Deputy Fire Chief Gary Bird said.

Heartland Plaza retirement home, 301 N. Eastern Ave., was evacuated early Tuesday after lightning hit the building's roof, Moore Deputy Fire Chief Gary Bird said.

About 18 people were transported from the Heartland home to East Moore Nursing Home, 320 N Eastern Ave., at around 5 a.m. Tuesday, Byrd said.

Police said the residents will likely be staying at the East Moore facility for a couple days.
