OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – Oklahoma City police arrested a half-dressed man accused of threatening a family in a Chili's restaurant with a knife, then attempting to steal a soda truck.
An officer who had just finished eating his lunch spotted 38-year-old Dominick Thayer walking barefoot in the Chili's parking lot at 5301 North Classen Boulevard. The officer became suspicious when he saw Thayer walk inside the restaurant, then come back out without any food.
The officer followed Thayer to the back of the restaurant, where he watched him jump into an RC Cola utility truck. The officer said Thayer attempted to try to steal the truck, but couldn't get it to start. When Thayer got out of the vehicle, the officer pulled out his gun and ordered him to stop and get on the ground. That's when he noticed Thayer's genitals were exposed, and his face was covered in gold paint. The officer said Thayer admitted he'd been huffing the paint.
As the officer started to handcuff Thayer, a Chili's employee ran out of the restaurant and said Thayer had earlier walked inside, pulled out a knife, and threatened a man, his wife and their daughter. Thayer left the restaurant when an employee screamed at him to get out. No one was hurt.
After police arrested Thayer, they discovered he was a registered sex offender. He's charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, attempted larceny of a motor vehicle, public indecency, and inhaling a harmful substance.
