KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Police in Kansas City, Missouri arrested Oklahoma County fugitive Michael Colbert Friday.
According to police, they were checking license plates when a tag on a vehicle was associated with a warrant out of Missouri. The warrant was unrelated to Colbert's case in Oklahoma County.
A police officer began identifying everyone in the car, and asked Colbert for identification. The officer got a hit on Colbert's case in Oklahoma when he checked the 44-year-old's social security number. The officer was notified that Colbert was wanted in Oklahoma County on a warrant related to rape, sodomy, assault and battery and kidnapping.
Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant on the 44-year-old Thursday afternoon when he took off running in the 2100 block of N.E. 22nd Street. Deputies searched an area where Colbert was last seen for more than three hours, but did not find him.
Colbert is currently being booked into jail in Kansas City, Missouri where he will wait pending extradition back to Oklahoma County.
