NORMAN, Oklahoma – University of Oklahoma catcher Tyler Ogle has been named a third team All-American selection by Baseball America.
The All-America selection is the first for the junior captain who led the Sooner squad with nine homers in 2011. Ogle hit .343 with 45 RBI this season while starting 56 of the Sooner's 60 games.
The San Antonio, Texas native is also a 2011 first team All-Big selection by the league's coaches, a first team Academic All-Big 12 member and was a semifinalist for the 2011 Johnny Bench Award, an honor presented to the nation's top catcher.
On June 7, Ogle was the first Sooner taken off the board in the 2011 MLB Draft selected as the 284th overall player in the ninth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ogle is the third Sooner to collect All-America Honors in 2011, as Michael Rocha was named to the Louisville Slugger second team while Dillon Overton was honored as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All American.
