My 2 Cents: High Court Fails To Protect Kids From Violent Games

OKLAHOMA CITY -- I think the Supreme Court really blew it this time. Monday, by a vote of 7-2 the court decided that the government has no business keeping ultra-violent video games from children.

Justice Scalia wrote "governments don't have the free-floating power to restrict ideas to which children may be exposed."

But I agree with Justice Breyer who dissented saying the government can keep a 13-year-old boy from buying a pornographic picture of a woman, and should be able to keep him from buying a video game in which he pretends to torture and kill the woman.

You put garbage into a child, you're going to get garbage out, and I'm telling you a lot of these video games are garbage.

You can talk to me all you want about free speech, and government overstepping it's bounds, and if parents were doing their job this wouldn't be an issue, but too many aren't.

They have no idea what kinds of video games their children are playing.

As a society we have a responsibility to protect our children's innocence. We're failing at it.
