NORMAN, Oklahoma – Two victims of a Monday night robbery in Norman say the man who pointed a gun at them later walked up and pretended to be a stranger while police interviewed them.
Police responded to a call of an armed robbery in The Commons on Oak Tree Apartments along State Highway 9 around 11 p.m. Two men say they were visiting the complex when a man walked up to them and pulled out a gun.
The man told them they were going to be shot if they did not give the robber their wallets and cell phones. After the man ran off, the victims called 911.
Norman police searched the complex and used a helicopter to search the wooded area behind the apartments. They looked for nearly three hours but found nothing.
The two victims say while they were being interviewed by police, the man they believed robbed them came out of one of the apartments near the crime scene and pretended he knew nothing about the crime. While he asked questions about what happened, the victims signaled to police and told them this was the man who had robbed them.
Norman police took the man into custody as a person of interest. He was questioned and released. Police are still searching for a suspect.
