CUSHING, Oklahoma -- Vandals recently covered more than one dozen buildings in Cushing with swastikas and religious slurs.

Cushing Police Chief Terry Brannon said he believes the vandals struck sometime between Sunday evening and early Monday morning.

He said the vandalism came as quite a surprise. "I've never seen anything like this in our community, not to this magnitude."

The chief said there was "no evidence of any known militia movements or racial unrest against any particular religion in Cushing."

Debbie Moody owns Mila's Fabric in downtown Cushing and she said, "All I do is sit at my sewing machine and do alterations and I see everything that goes on here."

Although Moody did not see the vandals during the act, she said she is disappointed in what they left behind.

"When you see someone deface something like that it just makes you angry," she said.

Business owners in the area have provided security camera video to the police.

Cushing police are offering a $300 reward for any information leading to arrests and convictions of vandals in the case.
