Oklahoma U.S. Senator Tom Coburn has come out with his annual report of wasteful spending by the government his "Wastebook 2012", and blames his colleagues on Capitol Hill for most of it.

It's a thick report..201 pages online citing examples of 18.9 billion taxpayer dollars that were wasted.

A few quick examples.

The National Science Foundation gave a half million dollar grant to researchers who developed an online video game called "Prom Week", that let's you relive your prom.. if you want to.

The NSF gave another 325 thousand dollars to researchers who built a robo-squirrel to see how a rattlesnake would react.

They could have just driven to Okeene.

The government paid 24 million dollars for ridiculously overpowered computer routers for small libraries in West Virginia.

And Oklahoma didn't get off the hook either.

The Lake Murrary State Park airstrip, which the report says has no planes based there and averages one flight per month, has gotten 750-thousand dollars over the last five years..

Coburn's report says only 5-thousand 5 hundred of that has been used at the Lake Murray State Park Airport, the rest has been shifted to other more frequently used Oklahoma airstrips.
