Police arrested a drunken driving suspect after finding unprescribed pills in his car, and discovering his blood alcohol limit was more than double the legal limit.
Police say 24-year-old Tyler Steers was driving a van on Lake Hefner Parkway near Britton Road on December 7. The front driver's side tire was stripped from the rim, and smoke and sparks were emitting from it. The rear passenger side tire was also flat.
An officer stopped the vehicle. According to a police report, Steers "stumbled" out of the van. The officer said Steers smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, and had trouble keeping his balance.
The officer performed some field sobriety tests on Steers, which indicated Steers was intoxicated. Police took Steers into custody and searched his van. They found dozens of Adderall pills in an unmarked bottle.
After transporting Steers to the Oklahoma County jail, police administered a breath test. The result was .21, more than double the legal blood alcohol limit.
Police booked Steers into jail on complaints of DUI, possession of a controlled, dangerous substance, and driving on a flat tire or rim.
