One Teen Killed, Two Critical After Car Crash In Cimarron County

A Mustang teen was killed and two others are listed in critical condition after a two-vehicle accident in Cimarron County, early Sunday morning.

The accident occurred around 8:40 a.m. at the intersection of US Highway 64 and state highway 171, three miles south of the town of Keyes, Okla.

According to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2009 4-door Dodge pickup was heading westbound on US 64 when it was struck on the passenger side by a 2004 Freightliner tractor trailer, that was heading southbound on OK 171 and failed to yield at the stop sign before the intersection.

The Dodge, driven by 19-year-old Austin Liberton, had four other passengers in the vehicle. Matthew Scott, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Nick Gill, 17, and Samantha Dodson, 19, were both life-flighted to University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas where they are both listed in Critical Condition.

Liberton and a fourth passenger in the pickup, 18-year-old Sean Summer, were transported via ambulance to Cimarron Memorial Hospital in Boise City, Okla. where they were both treated and released.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 27-year-old Gildardo Corral of Amarillo, Texas, was not injured. Seatbelts were equipped and in use by everyone involved.

Gill was pinned inside the vehicle for approximately 46 minutes, Scott for approximately an hour and 15 minutes before both being freed.

Troopers have not said if charges will be filed.
