Oklahoma Baptist got a measure of revenge of its 2012 season-ending loss to Tabor with a 16-0 shellacking of the Bluejays Monday at Wichita State.
OBU bombed Tabor for 16 runs on 14 hits with Matt Page and Yael Colon getting four hits each. Page, who is second in the NAIA RBI race, drove in five runs. Greg Nelson added two hits, including a home run.
The Bison posted eight in the second inning, starting with a three-run home run by Kevin Hatch. OBU also got an RBI single by Nelson,an RBI walk by Mason Ankeney, a two-run single by Page and a run-scoring error.
The Bison picked up two more in the third on an RBI single by Page and an RBI fielder’s choice by Garrett Roberts.
Three more scored in the fifth on a two-run double by Page and a run-scoring fielder’s choice by Jeff Johnson.
Nelson added a solo home run to right with two outs in the eighth and Anthony Almonte drove home two with a ninth-inning single.
Jordan Morales pitched seven scoreless innings to pickup the win, while Brandon Willard and Jesus Carlos pitched a hitless frame apiece to keep the combined shutout.
Now 21-7 on the season, the Bison play at Oklahoma Wesleyan Tuesday before returning to Sooner Athletic Conference action at home Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Rogers State.
