A Warr Acres couple is accused of using bogus checks to buy guns. Police arrested Latonya Michelle Martin and Kevin Marcus Holt after investigators say the couple swindled thousands of dollars-worth of firearms from gun shop owners.

Now, officers are searching for more than a dozen of those weapons as they compare notes with gun shop owners throughout the Oklahoma City metro. Police are unsure where the weapons are currently located.

Henry Israel of Henry's Guns in Yukon is one of those store owners who treats guests like they're more than customers. They're his friends. For Martin and Holt, police say Henry and other small business owners were the perfect targets.

"For a little ma and pa operation, $3,000 is a lot of money," Henry said. "That's profits for a long time."

The couple is accused of buying the weapons with bogus checks to a closed account. Police say each time the two pulled a job, it was after 5 p.m. when business owners could not verify the check with the bank.

"They were very well polished and practiced," Henry said.

After the couple spent time at Henry's Guns, they allegedly hit up Gunworx and Outdoor America in northwest Oklahoma City and Locked and Loaded in Choctaw. The owner at Gunworx had a nearly identical story to the one Henry told. The alleged crime spree occurred in late June.

"A couple of the others that were taken advantage of were friends of mine," Henry said. "We've been around the gun business for a very long time."

For Henry, he's already been forced to go without replacing items on the shelves, but he's still hopeful he will get his guns back.

Martin and Holt are each being held on a $200,000 bond at the Oklahoma County jail. Prior the most recent cases, the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office was investigating Martin for writing bogus checks, according to court records.

Police have recommended a total of 12 charges to be filed against the couple.
