A 60-year-old man was swept away early Friday morning while trying to save his daughter from flash flooding near N.W. 118th Street and Barnes.

The heavy rains caused a creek in the area to swell and overflow its banks. Around 1 a.m., Vincent Brown and his family became trapped in a car in the floodwaters. He was trying to pull his family to safety when he was swept away.

Brown's body was found a short time later near N.W. 120th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Everyone else in the family is all right. The high water quickly receded and the area is no longer flooded.

According to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, crews responded to 27 water rescue calls during the height of the storm and flooding.
